Golden Horses Health Sanctuary
Prevention is better than cure
Operational risks lessened through strong partnership with LRQA

Through a strong partnership with LRQA, Golden Horses Health Sanctuary lessened its operational risks. LRQA assessors challenged the existing management system and always try to improve it. LRQA assessment approach is also based on the belief that “prevention is better than cure”.
Golden Horses Health Sanctuary (GHHS) is a pioneer in Malaysia’s emerging health tourism industry. The company offers health check-ups and preventative medicine in a beautiful sanctuary. Situated near Kuala Lumpur, the facility boasts more than 1,500 acres of land with mature trees and a quiet central lake.
The founder of GHHS, Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew, says he believes that an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure, which is why his company offers fully integrated preventative health care to clients.
With the centre located in an exclusive resort environment of 5 Star Hotel, GHHS is offering an integrated approach towards a perfect health sanctuary, which not just only providing Annual Health Screening but also offers health awareness and enhancing health knowledge through Library of Life, providing Ultimate Gateway to a Balance Body, Mind and Soul through its Health Retreat Program. The Sports Living Club offers the best & modern Recreational Facilities and Bio Herbs is offering premium quality supplements and health related devices.
Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) recently asked Dianna Lee (the daughter of Tan Sri Lee) Executive Director of GHHS, why it is so important for modern businesses to have a quality-management system such as ISO 9001.
Ms Lee said GHHS’s progressive business model had seen its membership grow rapidly to 13,000. To manage that business growth without diluting the product, GHHS needed a established system to manage its quality. By being more systematic, GHHS became a world-class organisation, she said, adding that she wanted her business to offer best-practice services based on an international standards. This, she said, was the main reason why LRQA was chosen to certify GHHS.
Through a strong partnership with LRQA, GHHS lessened its operational risks. For example, if health operators mix up client samples, assessments are compromised. To avoid this type of risk, LRQA assessors challenged GHHS management to create a system that stressed continuous improvement. With no room for error, prevention is better than cure.
Ms Lee said GHHS’s primary goal was to provide the best system of customer care, one that promises an accurate health-screening within five hours. Without a proper management system and clear operating procedures, it would not be possible to deliver the brand promise.
LRQA has been instrumental in strengthening the management system, by providing an independent evaluation of GHHS’s operations.
